Archives For the church

Our day today was a little unusual.  In fact we had seven different speakers for the message today! We did an overview of ministry today for our message, so each of the full/part time pastors had the opportunity to share for a few minutes about their area of ministry.  It was an unusual but fun way to present ministries in the church. We have a big kickoff on September 20th to get back into the fall schedule.  I am looking forward to that! Because of the unusual way we did the message, we never got to the last two songs of the day.  I will go ahead and list them in the setlist, but we never did get to them.  On to the setlist!

  • Marvelous LightHall
  • Salvation Is HereHouston (First time we have done this one… I LOVE this song!  What a declaration in the chorus!)

Special Music – “I Will Not Be Moved” (Natalie Grant)  Our band and vocals did a FANTASTIC job on this!  Rocked the house!

I cannot believe it is August already!  This year has flown by!  Today was the third in our “Comfortable” series.  Today’s talk was on change, specifically on allowing God to change us as we follow Him.  Our pastor did an awesome job!  Here is today’s setlist:

A great day in God’s place with God’s people!  Cannot wait until next week!  This post is also part of Sunday Setlists at Fred McKinnon [dot] com.

I am still processing some of the things I heard last week at the National Worship Leaders Conference and will write a bit about it later this week.  Until then, here are some great links to other blogs with some great content that is well worth your time to check out:

  • Tony has a sneak peek at a video from the New Hillsong recording that is due out August 4th.  Love their music and passion for worship!
  • Brian’s post about divorce really hits a soft spot in my heart.  I wrestle with questions about this often.
  • Rob hits the nail on the head with this post about Christianity and its relationship with “going to church.”
  • Are you a Worship Pastor that is not getting along with your Lead Pastor?  Tim writes about the tension that brings.
  • Perry talks about Preparation H (Yes, I write that correctly) and how it relates to confession.  Gotta read this one!

Hope you all have a great day!

I had a fantastic week being able to attend the National Worship Leaders Conference in Leawood, KS at the Church of the Resurrection.  I will post about the conference this week after I digest and process it a bit more.  I am filled up though, and could not wait to get back to my church and lead worship today!  I woke up and immediately changed my mind on one of the songs we were doing… I had to do one that I heard this last week at the conference! So we did!  This was also the second week in the series “Comfortable,” and one of our men, Richard Perez, spoke today on the topic “Lazy Boy.”  He did a fantastic job! Ok, on to the set-list!

Just a little over a week until I get to participate in the National Worship Leader Conference in Leawood, KS.  I am looking forward to being able to sit at the feet and learn from some of the most talented worship leaders that there are.  I will have the opportunity so see artists such as Michael W. Smith, David Crowder Band, Tommy Walker and Leeland (see the whole list here), as well as learn from such people as Leonard Sweet and others.  I am also excited to get to meet some of my online friends like Fred, Rich and Kim.  It will be a great time of worship, learning and building friendships.  If you are attending the conference, there is a meet-up planned for Tuesday night.  Here are the details:

The event is being hosted by TheWorshipCommunity.Com, AllAboutWorship.Com, and PlanningCenterOnline.Com.  Because they are printing free T-Shirts to the first 50 attendees and hope to have some food, they need you to RSVP if you’re attending – ASAP.
