If we would often go back to the basics and a favorite
of mine is the word JOY.
Jesus First
Others Second
Yourself Last.

So many Christians and Churchs want the warm and fuzzy
feelings of this world.. we need to come out different than
we went in. Yes it is a daily struggle and a race to run.
Thanks for posting this Jason..

I am a Christian married to an unbeliever and we often talk about this very subject.
I have to say there are many times I do not like to associate myself with the word "Christian" for the simple reason it leaves a bad taste in people's mouths. My experience is that "Christians" spend more time talking the talk than walking the walk, too much time judging others and pointing out what they deem as sin and using political and social pressure to force others to conform to those beliefs. I believe if the followers of Christ tried more diligently to walk in the footsteps of Jesus and ministered with more compassion than condemnation you would find more people willing to take up the walk as well. I think those that do not believe need to see that we are human, who continue to sin, but continue to strive for WWJD rather than try to appear as perfect disciples.

Just my thoughts --

Reminds me of the line in the song "Madly:"

"Let what we do in here, fill the streets out there."

How much does that really happen? Is our corporate worship just a self-inflicted spiritual pep rally, or do we allow it to have real and greater meaning in the places we dwell?

I heard a quote recently that falls in the same stream of thought. I usually do not appreciate one-liners, but this one has special significance for me.

"Are you a fan of Jesus, or a follower?" - Alexie Torres-Fleming

It gets better the more you think about it...
